VKC WHITEWATER FESTIVAL
May 2-4, 2008   Chilliwack River, BC

Please read the Safety Information Document and familiarize yourself with the mandatory equipment and skill levels for river runs.

NOTE: Please SIGN UP for FreeStyle Clinics, Downriver Race, Hikes and Nature walks in advance at the registration table. Schedule subject to change based on number of people signed up, weather, river and snow levels.

Re: Shuttle – Shuttle service will commence at the times noted below and move continuously throughout the event. Driving distances are not great, so loading and unloading time will be key, please be organized and ready to go!

Friday, May 2nd:

9:00 – Volunteers available for shuttle vehicle p/u, Meal Equipment p/u, setup, etc.
12:00 Noon – Campground (Tamihi Creek) Check-in begins. Registration open.
12:00 – 5:00pm – Unofficial Runs (w/ volunteer shuttle if available)

Saturday, May 3rd:

08:00 – Registration open – Collect your Festival T-shirt!
08:30 – Volunteers meeting
09:00 – SAFETY MEETING – ALL MUST ATTEND

ALL DAY ACTIVITIES:
  • Visit the Moveo tent for sports injury consultation and massage therapy
  • Try a Demo boat from Western Canoe and Kayak, MEC, Wavesport, Dagger, Fluid Kayaks, Blissstick, Pyranha and others. See our Supporter’s Reps at their tents in advance
  • Check out new gear from Nookie UK, FNA, Level 6, Brooks, Predator Helmets and more
  • Visit our Silent Auction and Bid on a great deal – And support the Club! Silent auction available all day, goes LIVE at 9pm!
  • Creekers / Class IV+ boaters – Self shuttle to non-official event runs in the area
09:30 – First Shuttles of the day / Guided Runs for those ‘new’ to the Chilliwack
10:00 – Non-Paddler Activity – Guided Hike / Nature Walk with Tom Hoskin
10:00 – Bus Super Shuttle Departs Tamihi (dependant on #’s - TBC)
11:30 – Free Style Clinic presented by Rob Cartwright (pre-register)
12:00 Noon – Lunch (on your own)
12:30 – Z-Drag Demonstration by Claudia Schwab and Peter Spear (@ Campsite)
1:00pm – Afternoon Guided Runs for those ‘new’ to the Chilliwack
1:30pm – Canoe Polo Demo / Lessons at the Lake
1:00pm – Non-Paddler Activity – Local History / Culture Talk (details TBC)
3:00pm - Non-Paddler Activity – Guided Hike by Jane Weller, BC Mountaineering Club
5:00pm – Downriver Race (site to be confirmed, sign up in advance)
4:30pm – Last Upstream Shuttle departs
6:30pm – Dinner service begins
8:00pm – Club presentation, Contest Prize presentations
9:00pm – Silent Auction(s) go Live, Raffle/door prize presentations
9:30pm – MUSIC - Band “Switch” providing Entertainment

Sunday, May 4th:

08:00 – Continental breakfast available

6:00pm – Festival Ends, volunteer cleanup
8:00pm – Campground checkout, return vehicles, etc.
